There are innumerable challenges in the labor market, and Cool Choices addresses those challenges as they pertain to the needs of all workers. Through research and practical experience, we know that people generally want to contribute to society by being productive and satisfied in the workplace. It does not matter whether they are mechanics, clerks or surgeons. This concept is embedded in our system because we believe career satisfaction will increase if the worker is matched to a job by abilities, interests, needs and values. We have discovered the following problems through eyes of our clients and through our extensive research:
  • Students receive very little vocational-planning guidance in high school or at the collegiate level; they have little or no exposure to labor market opportunities; and they are investing large amounts of money in the “unknown”.
  • These problems can progress as the mismatched worker enters and spends time in the labor market: An individual in his/her mid-career stage has had ample time in the labor market, and they have developed distinct likes and dislikes.
